Obituary

Charles Michael O'Connor passed away unexpectedly at his home on August 27, 2022.  Charlie was born in Beaumont, Texas on December 13, 1954. He graduated from Callaway High School in 1973, and earned his bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University in Landscape Contracting.  He owned his own business for over 40 years, creating unique landscapes with his artist's eye for many loyal clients in the Jackson area.

Charlie designed and built his own home with the help of friends, beginning in 1982. There were numerous additions throughout the years, and all who see it consider it a work of art.  He was an accomplished guitarist. His favorites were vintage Fender Stratocasters and an old Gibson Hummingbird.  He performed with local bands and once at CBGBs on tour.  He loved his wife, his family and friends, clients, Irish heritage, music, his mulligan brothers and all his golf buddies.  He never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Bellan O'Connor, whom he married on April 3, 2004; his mother-in-law Joan Bellan; brother-in-law John Bellan and his wife Noella and their children Joanna, Alex, and Mary Hazel; sister-in-law Catherine Bitterman and her husband Jim and their children Jack and Hank.

He is also survived by his three sisters, Connie O'Connor Murray and her sons Wyler and Aaron; Colleen O'Connor White and her husband Albert and their son Nelson; and Celeste O'Connor Werkheiser, her husband Brooks and her daughter Candace Guthrie, her husband Danny, and her children March and Mick McLeran.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Jerry O'Connor, and his father-in-law Jack Bellan.

He will be missed by many.
