Charles Timothy
"Ty" Yancy
April 25, 1951 – March 24, 2026
Charles Timothy "TY" Yancy, 74, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend, Tim lived a life marked by service, faith, and a deep love for the people around him.
Tim was born April 25, 1951, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Ivan A. Yancy and Faye Graham Britt. He later attended and graduated from Mississippi College, where he would begin a lifelong commitment to athletics and student life.
For 37 years, Tim faithfully served Mississippi College, supporting athletics and student athletes across multiple programs. In recognition of his years of dedication and lasting impact, Tim was inducted into the Mississippi College Sports Hall of Fame — an honor that reflected the deep respect and admiration he earned throughout his career.
During his decades of service, he became a beloved figure among athletes, coaches, and staff. TY was always there to support players — whether meeting their needs behind the scenes or offering encouragement when it mattered most. His impact extended far beyond the field, shaping the lives of countless young men who came to see him as both a mentor and a friend.
Outside of his professional life, Tim loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with family. He was known for his incredible sense of humor. Tim had a way of making people laugh, lightening the mood, and bringing joy to those around him, whether among friends, family, or the athletes he cared for so deeply.
He found his greatest joy, however, in his family — especially his grandchildren, who were the true joy of his life. He also loved the Lord and lived his faith through kindness, humility, and service to others.
Tim is survived by his beloved wife, Roseanna Rahaim Yancy; his sons, Christopher Cooley (Leslie) and Michael Cooley (Elizabeth); his cherished grandchildren, Sommer Cooley, Andrew Cooley, Christopher Cooley, and Walter Cooley; and his sister, Deborah Yancy Snider McDowell.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ivan A. Yancy (April 23, 1972); his mother, Faye Graham Britt (July 5, 2020); and his beloved niece, Grahame Brooke Snider (December 13, 2012).
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home, Clinton at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m.
A private graveside burial will follow at Lakewood Funeral Home & Memorial Park.
TY will be remembered for his generous heart, quick wit, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. His presence will be deeply missed by family, friends, and the many athletes whose lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to a Charity that is important to your family.
