Charles Lee
Robinson
December 19, 1932 – January 22, 2025
Charles Lee Robinson, age 92, of Raymond, Mississippi, passed away on January 22, 2025 after a brief stay in the hospital. Charles was born on December 19, 1932 in McDonald, MS. After graduating from Oakland High School, he attended Northwest Community College, where he met his wife, Martha Ellen Saunders. Following his time at Northwest CC, he went on to study entomology at Mississippi State University. After graduating from MSU, he worked for the federal government and led a brucellosis lab for more than 25 years. His wife, Martha, and he had four children. Charles and Martha had been married almost 70 years.
Charles Robinson was a long-time member of First Baptist Church Raymond where he was a deacon and a fine Christian example. The members of FBC Raymond depended on him to keep the church comfortable for worship. He and Martha participated in numerous church activities and service projects. Charles was a service-minded man who always found a way to help others. He was generous to an excess and truly exemplified what the Bible teaches when it says to do good, but to do so in private.
Before moving to Raymond, Charles was a Captain in the Marines. He was stationed at Camp Pendelton in California.
Charles enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, playing tennis, watching sports (particularly his St. Louis Cardinals), and gardening. Most of his friends and family looked forward to his annual output of delicious tomatoes. He had a green thumb, for sure, and was lovingly referred to by his wife as "my favorite yard boy."
Charles was a pillar in his community. For many years, he umpired the little league games and loved teaching young people how to hit a baseball. He taught his children the value of good sportsmanship and how to make the most out of life.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years; his four children—Debbie Norris and her husband Brian of Canton, MS; Lee Robinson and his wife Amy of Mathiston, MS; his son John Robinson and his wife Anita of Robinson, TX; and his son Rob Robinson and his wife Lindsay of Allen, TX; his brother Dwight Robinson of Sarah, MS and his sister Betty Morris of Murfreesboro, TN. Charles' legacy will continue through five grandchildren—Blaire Gray and her husband Robert of Sarasota, FL; Trey Robinson and his wife Amber of Starkville; Megan Chesterton and her husband Richard of Iceland; Emily Roberts and her husband Jason of Mathiston, MS; and Kyle Robinson of Vancouver, WA. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Services will be held at FBC Raymond on January 24, 2025 at 2 p.m. Visitation is from noon until 2 p.m. on that same day. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Samaritan's Purse.
