Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Elliotte Richardson was born on November 5, 1961 in Philadelphia MS. He was 62 years old when he passed. His mother's name was Sarah Elizabeth Keeton, passed at 62. His father's name was Charles Edwards Richardson, passed at 61. He has one sibling, a sister Elizabeth Richardson. In 1967, the family moved to Plain View; now known as Richland. Chuck lived there up to his junior year in high school and it was during this time is when he first met his wife, Debra Roxanne Shuler. He moved to Clinton MS for his senior year of high school, he graduated in 1979 with the top Mechanics Award. He decided to sign up for the Navy as soon as he got out of high school in 1980. Debra and Chuck did a little dating right after his bootcamp before he was shortly deployed. Debra went with him where ever the Navy was going to station him at. In his time in Navy he worked his way up to MM3 naval rank. His first two years of his term his was stationed at a couple bases: Seattle, Washington and Oahu, Hawaii. He was station at the submarine port on the Pearl Harbor Naval Base before getting shipped off. Debra and chuck had gotten married on December 4th, 1982, 2 years before he left the Navy. For Chucks last 2 years in the Navy, he served on the USS Robert E. Peary. They sailed all over the world and made port in a lot of unique places like, Australia and the Philipeans. It was also during this time that he was awarded with his Neptune Certificate. A naval challenge that sailors do when passing the equator that's filled brutal and humiliating tasks. Shortly after getting out of the Navy in 1984, Chuck returned to Richland MS to be with his wife Debra. They rented out a small trailer over off hanging moss road, and lived there for a few years. On August 18, 1987 they had their first boy; Thomas Charles Richardson. With a newborn baby now in their lives, they decided they needed more space so they bought and a trailer and a parcel of land in 1988 in Edwards MS. On March 17, 1994 they had their second son; Jordan Neil Richardson. Chuck had numerous jobs in this time frame working at places such as hydropower and Mississippi box. But he always did have higher ambitions to create a better life for his family. So he continued on with night schooling and got his bachelors degree in Industrial Maintenance. With his new degree he landed a job in Plant City FL working at International Paper Inc. He had to go through a training program, so he left the family in MS and stayed in a small one bedroom studio until his training was complete. In the summer of 2001, he had enough money saved up to move the whole family down to their new home in Plant City. The family did numerous activities such as visiting museums, going to different beaches, going to water and amusement parks, having jam sessions in the garage. Him and Debra went on several cruises to the Bahamas and Key West Florida. There were a couple back and forth moves from FL and MS but the family moved back to MS in 2009 due to the mortgage crisis happening in Florida. Two months after getting back into MS, the trailer they was staying in burnt to the ground with barely anything left. The family was welcomed with open arms from anyone and everyone who could help out in way. The family hopped around from place to place for a little while until chuck landed a job in Dumas Arkansas working at a dog food processing plant in 2012. They stayed in Dumas for a few years but decided it was time to come back home to MS in 2015. Chuck ended up landing a job at the Milwaukee plant as the head industrial maintenance technician. 4 years later his wife Debra Richardson passed away with severe COPD on September 5th, 2019. A year later, in 2020 chuck was diagnosed with lung cancer. He did the chemotherapy and radiation treatments to try and stop it in its tracks because it wasn't at a large scale yet. The radiation treatments did a number on him and ended up burning a hole in is esophagus, making it harder/ impossible to eat or drink anything. He had a hard fought battle ahead of him the coming years, always in pain and weak. He fought until his dying breathe, which was at the
VA Hospital in Jackson MS on January 22, 2024. His love, laughter, wisdom, honor, loyalty, hard work, and determination will always be remembered.
