Charles Tommie Hendon of Terry, Mississippi, would have turned 80 years old this coming October but life took him home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 6, 2023 a few months shy of October. He was born October 18, 1943, to the late Tom and Ottie Bell Hendon of Webb, MS

Charles grew up in Webb, MS and around 18 years of age began working at Baldwin Piano. He had a love for music that family and friends enjoyed at every family reunion or gathering and was skilled in many instruments. Many early memories are of him playing guitar and piano in various local places and recording songs. His most enjoyable was the family fireside sing-a-longs. He had many careers in his life but settled in the auto repair business. He joined the family business, Delta Muffler; opening various locations around the Jackson area. He established his last and largest shop, Delta Exhaust Systems in Jackson which he ran for many years.

Charles is survived by his children: three sons, Michael Hendon (Emily), Chuck Hendon (Sonya), Randy Hendon (Nikki); and two daughters, Charlotte Montgomery (Doug), Lywanna Ward (Jeff). Surviving grandchildren: Carter Hendon, Natalie Hendon, Nathan Hendon, Matthew Hendon, Carly Hendon, Harlie Hendon, Hayden Hendon, Brittany Griggs, James Griggs, Chasidy Burns, Skyler Ward, Tyler Ward and a number of great grandchildren. Surviving siblings: brothers, Rufus Hendon (Beverly), Frank Henson (Jean), and Billy Henson; Sisters, Dorothy Stewart, Ruth Richards, Mary Homan, Diane Neff. Preceded in death is his wife, Sherry Hendon and grandson, Corey Hendon.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg, MS. Pallbearers will be Carter Hendon, Nathan Hendon, and Matthew Hendon. Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton, MS will be coordinating the service.
