Charles (Charlie) Leo Gautreaux, Sr., longtime resident of Clinton, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2021. Charlie, survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Lyndell (Stone) were faithful members of Holy Savior Catholic Church in Clinton. He served in the US Navy from 1962-1966 at Keflavik Naval Station in Iceland after graduating in 1962 from Sacred Heart Catholic School in Hattiesburg, MS. Charlie worked as an Electronics Technician with Bell South with over 32
years of dedicated service before his retirement in 1999.
Charlie had an insatiable curiosity for knowledge. He often explored new hobbies, learning a multitude of skills. As an avid motorcycle enthusiast, Charlie frequently traveled the nation with Lynn and friends. He admired vintage motorcycles, particularly old Harleys, loved the beauty of fine wood-working, the joy of boating and fishing with his loved ones, and perfecting the recipes of his French and Italian ancestors.
Charlie is survived by a multitude of loved ones including his three grown children and their families:
Daughter Renee (Len) Van Sittert, grandsons Robby and Ryan (Destiny), and great grandchildren Kursten and Mia Van Sittert, all of St. Martin, MS.
Son Charles, Jr. (Maura) of Clinton, MS, granddaughters Genevieve (Gautreaux) Hyatt of Athol, MA, and Macy Carraway of Clinton, and great grandsons Oliver Hyatt and Thomas Cormier of Athol, MA.
Son Jonathan (Sharon), granddaughter Anna, grandsons Jonathan, Anthony, and Thomas, and granddaughter Bianca, all of Hedgesville, WV.
Charlie is also survived by granddaughter Charlee (Hatter) Alford of Richland, MS, as well as his brother Ramon (Christine) of Norwich, CT.
Charlie was preceded in death by his father Charles N. and Martha Ann (Bivona) Gautreaux and brother Cratin, all of Hattiesburg, MS, and granddaughter Margaret Elizebeth Gautreaux of Hedgesville, WV.
