Charles Edward Dickerson, Sr. , 80, of Clinton, Mississippi, died February 7, 2015, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Visitation is 9:30 to 11:00 A. M., Saturday, February 14, 2015, with service following visitation at 11:00 A. M. at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home, 106 Cynthia Street, Clinton, Mississippi. Burial will be in the Clinton City Cemetery on Clinton Boulevard. Mr. Dickerson and his family have been residents of Clinton since 1960.
Mr. Dickerson was born January 16, 1935, to Arthur Monroe and Susan Elizabeth Allen Dickerson in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was retired from the Veteran's Administration, Jackson, Mississippi. He was a long time member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church, Clinton, Mississippi. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran. He was an avid enthusiast of antique vehicles, his community, and especially his family.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Faye Gourdon Dickerson, of Clinton, Mississippi; daughter, Dena Diane Dickerson and husband, Dr. Jan Hoover of Jackson, Mississippi; son, Charles (Chuck) Dickerson, Jr., and wife, Virginia (Ginny) of Vicksburg, Mississippi. Mr. Dickerson, one of nine children, was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings.
