Charles Barnes Obituary
Charles Thomas Barnes, age 79, of Clinton, Mississippi, passed away on November 19, 2025, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
Charles was born on February 4, 1946, to James Thomas and Virginia Irene Barnes, in Magee, Mississippi. He and his 4 sisters grew up in small town Mississippi. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp from 1965 to 1971, where he earned the rank of corporal. He met the love of his life, Barbara Ann Hall, in Collins, Mississippi and they married on February 7, 1970 at Cold Springs Baptist Church in Collins. Charles spent his working years in construction administration and was highly respected by peers in his field. He continued his education over the years and earned his Bachelor's in Civil Engineering in 1999.
Charles loved spending time outdoors in his beautiful pecan orchard and working the land on his tractor. He enjoyed watching westerns, cheering on Ole Miss football and the New Orleans Saints. He definitely enjoyed a good steak every now and then. Anyone who knew him knows he had a big heart and would help anyone in any way he could. He loved his family well. He was always bragging on his grandkids. He was such a proud "Pops". Charles was a godly man who loved his Savior, revered His Word, and believed Jesus would always come through when things got tough. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Clinton, Mississippi.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Christel (David) Harbin; his grandchildren, Brandon Bird and Courtney Bird; and his sister Cheryl Barnes-Miller (Michael Richardson). He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who loved their "Uncle Charlie". He was preceded in death by his father, James Thomas Barnes; his mother, Virginia Irene Bowser Barnes; and his sisters, Janie, Judy, and Mary.
