June 7, 1950 – February 11, 2022
Charles Raymond Alexander (71) went home to his Lord on Friday, February 11, 2022 peacefully surrounded by family after suffering from Covid Pneumonia. He was born in Washington, D.C. on June 07, 1950 to Thomas Avery Alexander and Mildred Pauline Long.
Charlie loved his work. He once said do a job you love and you will never work a day in your life. He graduated from Auburn University in Architecture. He worked on many buildings downtown. First Presbyterian Church Sanctuary and Miller Hall, The Woolfolk Building, the Sillers Building, the Justice Building, Archives and History Building, Convention Center and more. He also worked on the Braves Stadium. Before coming to Jackson in 1991 he lived in Birmingham, Alabama where he worked on many buildings there but was most proud of the Alabama Power Building. Charlie also liked giving of his time for African Bible College in Malawi and designed some of their buildings there.
Charlie loved big! He loved God, his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Cindi Pace Alexander; brother, Paul Alexander; sons, Erik (Amber) and Tyson (Gemini), and daughter, Amberley Alexander Aiken; stepson, Adam Harris (Yvette Medlock) and stepdaughter, Robyn Harris Overstreet (Brian); grandchildren, Brynne Aiken Norton (Jarred), Haedyn Aiken, Madeline Alexander, Nicholas Alexander, Cecilia Alexander, Blaise Alexander, Julee Alexander, LeeAnne Alexander, and Maddie Harris; great grandchildren, Beau Norton and Jackson Norton; sister and brother in laws, Ginny Pace, Sandi Pace, Resa Pace, Tina Pace Byford (Brandon), and Lorri Lee Mendoza (John); and many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He also leaves his fur babies, Zippy and Odie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tommy Alexander who passed away last month with Covid pneumonia.
Visitation is Tuesday, February 15th, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church Jackson in the greeting courtyard. The funeral will be Wednesday, February 16th, 11:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church Jackson. Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Flowood is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to African Bible College, Reformed Theological Seminary or French Camp.
