Cathy Ann
Bell
April 5, 1941 – November 6, 2024
Cathy Ann Bell, a resident of Oxford, Mississippi, gained her angel wings and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 6, 2024 after a brief illness.
She was born on April 5, 1941 in Yazoo City, Mississippi to Clifton Boyce (Buster) and Catherine Saxton Chunn.
Cathy grew up in North Jackson and attended Murrah High School. After meeting and marrying the love of her life in 1957, she graduated Pearl High School in 1958. She was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church prior to marriage. After marriage, she joined Flowood Baptist Church and was a member for 67 years until her passing.
Cathy worked for the Clarion Ledger for 5 years and Wood Mechanical Contractors in Pearl for 16 years. She loved to travel, spending time with family and friends and living life to the fullest. She had an outgoing personality and loved a good party or gathering with family and friends. Cathy's (Mimi to her grandchildren) greatest joy was spending as much time as possible with her two grandchildren (Davis and Korey) never missing a school program, birthday, gymnastics/cheer, or sporting event (softball, basketball, football or baseball game).
Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, baking sweets, playing golf in her younger days, and shopping. Her favorite cooking/baking items included her signature green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, homemade yeast rolls, Roquefort cheese dressing, coca cola salad, divinity, fudge, black bottom pie and chocolate chip cookies often coloring the cookies blue/green for her grandkids.
Cathy is preceded in death by her infant son Willard Craig and parents Clifton Boyce (Buster) and Catherine Saxton Chunn of Jackson, Mississippi.
Cathy is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Keith; her son Kenny (Pam) of Brentwood, Tennessee; grandchildren Davis Bell Lastinger (Jake) of Valdosta, Georgia and Korey Bell (Haley) of Austin, Texas; great grandchild Collins McLaurin Lastinger; brothers Cliff Chunn (Cheryl) of Nashville, Tennessee and Mack Chunn (Marty) of Madison, Mississippi; sister Cindy Chunn Miller of Colorado and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Visitation will be held at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Flowood, Mississippi at 1:00 pm Thursday November 21 followed by a graveside memorial service at 2:00 pm at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, Mississippi. Pallbearers will be Mike Adcock, Scott Brown, Rusty Phillips, Chuck Smith, Chad Thompson and Carlton Winstead.
