Carolyn H. Montgomery, 84, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Brookdale Senior Living and Memory Care in Clinton, Miss. She was born in the Blackland community of Prentiss County, Miss., on September 2, 1933, the daughter of Lunsford and Minnie Houston. Carolyn graduated from Booneville High School and graduated with an Associates Degree from Northeast Mississippi Junior College, also in Booneville, Mississippi. She met the love of her life at Northeast and they were married in 1953.
Carolyn was a secretary for several employers and also stocked greeting cards at a major grocer. She enjoyed being an active member of Parkway Baptist Church until prohibited by her health. She also devoted herself to her family and friends.
Carolyn is survived by her sons Robert "Bobby" Montgomery of Brandon, Miss., and Paul Montgomery (Sharon) of Clinton, Miss.; granddaughters, Ashleigh Montgomery, Natalie Montgomery, and Haley Montgomery; and grandson John Montgomery (Marley) of Little Rock, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert "Bob" Montgomery; her brothers Fred L. Houston, Harlis Houston, R.G. Houston, and Herschal Houston; sisters, Myrtle H. Stephens, Trecia H. Cartwright, Earline Murdock Dysart, Syble Moore Tollison, Lee Barron and Ila H. Wilmoth.
The family wishes to thank all those who cared for her during her years at Brookwood, and her recent illness. Memorials may be made to Parkway Baptist Church, Clinton, Miss., or the Alzheimer's Association.
Visitation will be Monday, January 29th from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton, Miss., with the funeral service beginning at 10:30 am. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, West Point, Miss.
