Carol Lynn
Ivey Morris
September 20, 1949 – March 17, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Carol Lynn Ivey Morris, announce that she passed away peacefully, entering the presence of the Lord on Monday, March 17, 2025, at HCS West Hospital in Pensacola, FL. She was 75. Carol was born at Baptist Hospital, Jackson, MS, on September 20, 1949, to her mother, Loyce Ivey, and her father, Cecil Ivey, now both deceased.
Born and raised in Jackson, Carol had been a member of McDowell Road Baptist Church in Jackson and was married in that sanctuary at the age of 21 to Robert Greene Morris of Jackson. They made their home in Madison, MS, until 2012 and have since lived in Myrtle Beach, SC and currently, Pace, Florida.
Carol was a graduate of Wingfield High School, Jackson, and was a member of the last graduating class of registered nurses at the Gilfoy School of Nursing in 1971, at Baptist Hospital, Jackson. After passing State Boards, she began a 26-year career as a Registered Nurse working in several medical environments. Before retiring in the 90s due to an at-work back injury, she worked at Baptist Hospital, St. Dominic Hospital, River Oaks Hospital and what is now called Charter Behavioral Health. Carol loved her career and over that time, she worked Emergency, Recovery, Surgery, Alcohol & Drug Abuse and the Psychiatry unit.
Carol loved the sun and water and spent cherished summer days in Destin with family and friends. She earned her scuba diver certification with her husband in the early 70's and for years, she and her husband enjoyed RV vacations around the country. At home, she loved to do needlework for friends but made time for her true passion of volunteering for animal rescue causes.
Carol is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert Greene Morris and her son, Robert Craig Morris (Felicia Dubuc Morris), and a brother, Terry Cecil Ivey.
Carol chose cremation and a memorial service will be held at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Flowood, MS, on April 2, 2025. The address is 114 Burney Dr., Flowood, MS 39232.
