Carol L. Banes, 88, of Raymond, MS, passed away at home August 24, 2024, leaving a void her family cannot fill.

She was born in Burkburnett, Texas in 1936 to Clovis and Pauline Lewis. Carol was the second oldest of twelve children and grew up in Jackson, Mississippi.

In 1963, she married the love of her life, Billie Banes. Together they built a life she adored and treasured until her last breath. After she lost Billie in 2012, she looked forward each and every day until the day she would be reunited with him in Heaven.

Carol was a devoted mother to Kenneth Banes, Stephen Banes, Brad Banes and Chuck Banes (deceased). Her boys were her pride and joy. She was the epitome of the perfect "boy mom" enjoying their numerous livestock and sporting events throughout their lives.

Carol lived her entire life in line with scriptures proving herself to have the characteristics of what a Proverbs 31 woman should be. She took God's Word to practice by living a godly life, devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother focusing on her faith and trust in God.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Billie, parents Clovis and Pauline Lewis, son Chuck Banes and siblings Joyce Lewis, Kay Ann Lewis and Chuck Lewis. Carol is survived by Kenneth (Pam) Banes, Stephen (Michelle) Banes, Brad (Sonya) Banes; grandchildren Justin Banes, Katie Banes, Elizabeth Banes, Rachel Banes, Jared Banes, Josh (Kendall) Banes, Peyton Banes and Eli Banes. Her siblings include sisters, Nancy Willis, Paula Harris, Maggie Jantz, and brothers, Clovis Lewis, Mark Lewis, Victor Lewis, Richard Lewis, and Patrick Lewis.

Services will be held Monday, August 26, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Church in Raymond Mississippi with visitation from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM and service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be held immediately after the service at the Raymond Cemetery. Donations can be made to The Billie Banes Memorial Scholarship with the Hinds Community College Foundation.
