Carl D. Edmondson took his last breath on this Earth and went to be with our Lord on June 19, 2018. Visitation will be Friday June 22, 2018 from 5pm - 7pm and from 10am -11am Saturday June 23, 2018 at Wright & Ferguson, Clinton, Mississippi followed by his celebration service at 11am. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Cemetery on Clinton Boulevard.
Mr. Edmondson was born in August of 1924, to Michael & Lena Edmondson, in Yazoo City, Mississippi, where he lived until moving to Jackson, Mississippi in 1969. After years of being a full-time loyal, dedicated employee of East Ford and a security officer at the Metrocenter Mall in Jackson, Mr. Edmondson retired to care for his ill mother, together with his siblings. He and his loving wife later moved to Clinton, Mississippi to be close to family.
Mr. Edmondson's passion was people, his family and his church. He was a member of Westhaven Blvd. Church of God for 49 years, where he served as bookkeeper, congregational song director, and Sunday School teacher. He never let a day go by that he didn't tell someone about his Savior.
Mr. Edmondson had a huge passion for playing the harmonica, carrying his "harp" to every doctor's appointment, hospital stay, family or church gathering. A definite harmonica advocate. He was the 1st Place winner of the Instrumental category of the Senior Adult Talent Competition in the Mississippi Church of God.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Alma Edmondson; daughters Carla Briggs (Tommy), and Lena Huse (Carl) all of Clinton; 4 granddaughters, Madison, Anna, Abby & Bethany; brother, Kenneth and sister Ruby Griffith; numerous nieces & nephews; and 4 very special people he claimed as "his own grandchildren" - Valerie & Amanda, and Martin & Loree. He was preceded in death by his father Michael, his mother Lena; brothers, M.J. & Verbon and sister, Loyce Edwards.
