Obituary

C.L. Wilson, 88, passed peacefully, surrounded by his family on October 10, 2020, due to complications of Alzheimer's, a disease he battled for a decade.

A graveside service will be held at Lakewood South Cemetery on Monday, October 12, 2020 at 2:00. C.L. will be buried beside his beloved wife of 61 years, Peggy F. Wilson.

He was born January 4, 1932 to Cammie Lev and Maude Elizabeth Wilson of Lucien, MS and was one of nine children. After spending time working in the Texas oilfields, C.L. moved back to Mississippi to further develop his skills as an iron worker. In the early 1980's he set out on his own and formed C.L Wilson Construction. This not only allowed him to demonstrate his incredible talents as a builder, but also gave him the freedom to frequently travel out West.

"The West" was his true love and was a place he always found peace through its natural beauty. C.L., known as Paps or "ACE" by his grands and great grands, introduced all seven grandchildren to the beauty of the West and Rocky Mountains by taking them on 10-14-day road trips. He spent countless hours teaching them how to be independent in nature while enjoying its landscape.

C.L. is survived by his four daughters: Linda Graves, Starkville, MS; Dianne Robertson, Jackson, MS; JoAnne Hartley (Kirk), Madison, MS; and Patricia Hammons Brandon, MS. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Cher Crowley (Cliff), Starkville, MS; Jody Pennock (Kate Scott), Tunica, MS; Dewayne Hammons (Jennifer), Brandon, MS; Holly Kymes (Matthew), New Orleans, LA; Derek Hammons, Brandon, MS; Michael Ishee (Tori), Morrisville, NC; Cameron Hartley (Morgan), Madison, MS; and fifteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Shirley Johnson of Montrose, MS.
