Obituary

Bolton – C D Lancaster, Jr., 95, of Bolton passed away at his home on Thursday, November 14, 2019. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 17, 4:00 to 6:00 pm at his home in Bolton at 302 Gearhart Drive. The service will be held at Memorial United Methodist Church in Bolton on Monday, November 18, at 11:00 am with visitation at the church one hour prior to the service. The officiant will be Pastor Matthew Hall. Pallbearers will be Lindsay Lancaster, Joe Maury, Mike Lancaster, Don Lancaster, Ethan Jackson and Chuck Lane. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ted Kendall, Ray Boyd, Doug Beard, Dan Mashburn, and Robert Mashburn.

C D was born in Bolton, Mississippi, on July 5,1924, to C D Lancaster and Lottie Gearhart Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 69 years, Mary Glynn, who passed away on November 5, 2019, his sister, Jean Lancaster, and brother, James G. Lancaster. He is survived by his daughter Michele Lancaster Thurman of Columbus, Georgia, and son Charles David Lancaster and his wife Angela of Clinton, Mississippi. He is survived by six grandchildren Stephanie "Herm" Thomas (Joe), Cortney "Old Woman" Maury (Joe), Katherine "Trouble" Kennedy (Joel), Chad "Monkey Dust" Lancaster, Clare "Car Chap" Lancaster, and Rebecca "Red-Light" Jackson (Ethan). He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren Lucy Lancaster, Mary Kate Kennedy, Victoria Linares, Izzy Maury, Ford Kennedy, Gabriel Linares, Emersyn Lancaster, Emma Thomas, Dalton Thomas, Jack Kennedy, and Molli Jackson.

C D was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Navy. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1952 and received his Master's from Mississippi College in 1969. He was a teacher and principal for 27 years, although his first love was farming, he said he had to teach to support his family. He continued to run his farm and take care of his cattle into his nineties. At the age of 90 he was recognized by the House of Representatives as a "Living Legend".

The family would like to thank all those who helped care for him these last few years, especially Molly McCray and Tangela Fulwiley, and to Hospice Ministries for their care and compassion the last few weeks of his life.
