Today, we gather with heavy hearts to honor and remember a truly special man, Buford Gene Warren Sr., who passed away peacefully on October 5, 2026, at the age of 70.
Buford was a longtime resident of Clinton, Mississippi, and a man who was known by many for one thing above all else—his big, giving heart. He had a way of helping others, giving what he could, and making people feel cared for. He may not have always said a lot, but his actions spoke loudly about the kind of man he was.
For most of his life, Buford was a truck driver, and he loved his Peterbilt. The open road was a familiar place to him, and trucking was more than just a job, it was a way of life. Anyone who knew him could tell you how much pride he took in his truck and the life he built behind the wheel.
But as much as Buford loved trucking, nothing compared to the love he had for his family.
He was proudly a big Momma’s boy, and that love was a special part of who he was. He carried that same deep love into his own family, especially his children and grandchildren. His family was his greatest treasure.
Buford is survived by his beloved son, Buford Gene Warren Jr., and his wife Sundy Layne Warren, and his daughter, Candice Caye Warren Wimberly, and her husband, John Colt Wimberly.
He leaves behind grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought immense joy and pride to his life: Skyler, Jacob, Bradley Peyton, Sidney Brady, Hayden Lilly, BreAnna, Karli, Patience “Lollie Pop,” Colt, and Kaisyn, Great Grands Ellie, Stetson, Brooks and his faithful companion Bruce.
To his grandchildren, and great grandchildren he wasn’t simply Paw Paw or Grandpa—he was someone who loved them in his own special way. Each one held a place in his heart, and the memories they made with him will be carried with them for the rest of their lives.
Buford was preceded in death by his parents, Buford Orval Warren and Dolly Jean Warren.
Although our hearts are broken by his passing, we can find comfort knowing that the love Buford gave so freely does not disappear. It lives on in his children, his grandchildren, his family, and in every person whose life he touched.
We will remember the man behind the wheel of his Peterbilt.
We will remember his generous heart.
We will remember his love for his Momma.
We will remember the way he loved his children.
And most of all, we will remember the love and pride he had for his grandchildren.
A life is not measured only by the years someone lived, but by the lives they touched, the love they gave, and the memories they leave behind.
Buford left behind a lifetime of memories, a family who loved him deeply, and a legacy that will continue through the generations.
Rest easy, Pops.
Your road here is finished.
May your next journey be peaceful, and may you always ride with the angels.
You will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
