Obituary

Bobby Riley Redding passed away in McComb, MS on January 10, 2024, with his family by his side. Bobby was born June 14, 1940, in Oxford, MS to Mildred Gray and James Robert Redding, Jr. He graduated from Taylor High School and Northwest MS Community College. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Mississippi and his Master's Degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Bobby was a member of the MS Engineering Society, Water for People, Baptist Medical Dental Missions International, and the Agricultural Development Foundation. He was awarded Young Engineer of the Year and Engineer of the Year. He worked for the Mississippi State Board of Health and Neel-Schaffer Engineering. Bobby enjoyed gardening, riding horses, and spreading the gospel. He went on mission trips to Panama, Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Brazil. Also, he was very active at First Baptist Church Clinton where he served as a deacon and a Sunday School teacher.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn, his children Dr. Steve Redding (Dr. Melinda Redding), Amye Howell (Dr. Greg Howell), and Susan Floyd (Dr. Ryan Floyd); his grandchildren Dr. Jonathan Redding (Dr. Alison Redding), Joshua Redding, Jared Redding, Dr. Kathryn Palmer (Dr. Trace Palmer), Luke Howell, Delaney Floyd, Michael Floyd, and Riley Floyd, and his great grandchildren, Evelyn Redding, Elijah Redding, and Clark Palmer, and his brother James William Redding.

Visitation will be held 12-2 at First Baptist Church, Clinton, MS on Friday, January 12, 2024, followed by his funeral. Graveside services will be at the Clinton Cemetery immediately following. Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton, MS is in charge of the arrangements.
