Obituary

Blane Andrew Lovett, an electrician, sportsman; and, above all, loving husband and father, finished his earthly sojourn and entered into eternity with our heavenly Father on Monday, October 30th, unexpectedly while on vacation in Mexico.
Blane leaves behind his wife, JoAnn Lovett; his children, Shayne Lovett and wife Amanda Lovett, Ashley Lovett, and Tara Rogers; his grandchildren, Tyler Lovett, Victoria Gladney, CJ Gladney, Enya Gutierrez, and Tony Gutierrez; his sisters, Debbie Barton, Jamie Parham, and Cindy Wilson; his brother, Wayne Lovett, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his stepson, Victor Rogers; father, Ira Lovett; and mother, Catherine Lovett.
Blane was born in Paducah, KY on June 5, 1953. He attended Hinds Community College and electrical training school where he learned his trade. He was a retired member of the I.B.E.W. Local 480 where he was employed for over 30 years. Afterwards, he joined the Hinds Community College family where he has been for the past 20 years. He was also a devoted member of the Masonic Hinds Lodge #628, a 33rd Scottish Rite, a Wahabi Shriner, and Drum Corps unit member where he found some of his most enduring friendships.
Today, we celebrate the life of a selfless man who never met a stranger, knew how and when to enjoy a good laugh, and who was a fierce friend. He was never too busy to help, and he meant it when he said that it was good to see you.
He loved life and believed in giving that love away. He was a man of few words, but the twinkle in his eye and impish little smile would often betray his mischievous intentions.
He loved the outdoors, and could often be found on a crisp fall day in the field waiting for the perfect deer or using it as an excuse for the perfect nap. He believed he needed that strength to get him through another year of being one of the planet's most faithful New Orleans Saints' fans. Geaux Saints.... and Falcons are dirty birds.
Above all, he loved the Lord and his family. He was a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He lived his life as a representation of Christ. He has been a backbone of strength, a source of quiet courage through difficult times, and an example of the unselfish nature of true love. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, November 5, from 4:00-6:00 PM at Wright and Ferguson in Raymond MS. Visitation will also be held on Monday, November 6, from 10:00-11:30 AM with services immediately following at Salem Baptist Church in Raymond, MS. Dr. Wayne Kimbrough will officiate.
