Billy Joe Stack, 71, passed peacefully Sunday, March 11, 2018. Billy was born November 18, 1946 to Vivian Stack and Florence Stack McDowell.
The middle child of 3 boys, he was a graduate of Ackerman High School in Ackerman, MS. After graduating from Mississippi State University with a bachelor in education with a minor in mathematics, master in education in counseling, and a specialist in education in school administration, Billy became a dedicated and loyal educator throughout Mississippi. A large portion of his school administration was spent as the Director of the Clinton High School Vocational Center. During his administration years, he also coached softball for Clinton Parks and Recreation, Hillcrest Christian Academy, and Millsaps College.
Billy enjoyed inspiring the lives of students and making a positive impact on all of those around. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church and has
served churches as Sunday School Teacher, RA leader, an ordained deacon, and was always eager to help the elderly in many ways.
One of his self-proclaimed greatest decisions is when he married his wife of 50 years, Brenda. Billy's favorite pastime was attending ballgames of his grandchildren and spending quality time laughing and playing with his family.
Billy is survived by his wife, Brenda, his daughters Monica (Davis) Thornton and Kim (Mike) Stepp, 6 grandchildren Madison, Mackenzie, Kade and Keely Thornton and Lizzi and Reid Tompkins, brother James (Betty) Stack, and multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents Vivian Stack and Florence Stack McDowell and his brother Charles Stack.
Visitation will be from 1pm - 3pm Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral services will follow at 3pm in the chapel.
Interment will be at Flora Cemetery.
