Bryant, Sr.
October 4, 1934 – November 14, 2023
Bewell Clifford Bryant Sr., 89, resident of Ripley, departed this life on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Services honoring the life of Mr. Bryant will be at 11:30 AM, Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Springdale Baptist Church in Ripley, MS with Bro. Stacy McKee officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 until time of service. An additional funeral service will be Monday, November 20, 2023 at McLaurin Heights Baptist Church, Pearl, MS at 11:30 with Bro. Steve Jackson officiating. Visitation will start at 10AM. Burial will be in the Cedarlawn Cemetery in Jackson, MS.
Mr. Bryant was born October 4, 1934 in Smith County MS, to the late Robert Erchell and Nonnie Jewell Middleton Bryant. He was a graduate of Central High School in Jackson, MS and served as Minister of Education for 30 years, as well as working as a traveling salesman.
A Christian and member of Springdale Baptist Church, Mr. Bryant always had a love for his Lord first, followed by his church and fellow man. A family-oriented man, he was a wonderful husband to his wife, Hazel and the best "Paw" to his many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Known as a "jack of all trades", Mr. Bryant will be remembered for his love of woodwork and carpentry skills. He could make anything just by a description and took pride in every piece he placed his hands on. Some of his favorite past times included golf, reading and cooking chicken every way possible. Mr. Bryant will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 28 years, Hazel Smith Paseur Bryant, four daughters, Lauren Yawn (Mike) of Phenix City, AL, Lisa Hughes (Larry) of Oxford, Bettie Joyce Cappleman (Barry) of Ft. Wayne IN, and Margie Shelton (Charlie) of Ripley, two sons, Bobby Travis Paseur (Sherri) of Ripley, and Billy Alvin Paseur of Essary Springs, TN, one brother Ray Bryant (Peggy) of Brandon, MS, twenty grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren. Those preceding him in death include his first wife Carolyn Ross Bryant, his son, Bewell C. Bryant Jr., one sister Carol Dean Lewis and one grandson Taylor Bryant.
