Bennie Joe Roberts, a resident of Pearl, MS passed away Monday, May 11, 2026, at home surrounded by family.

Bennie was a proud Veteran of the Army and a retired mechanic from a dealership that he worked many years for in Mendenhall, MS.

He spent many years racing and maintaining a racecar named L88 which he loved to do with his daughters in tow in the summers. He was a great fisherman and would get away to fish anytime he could, he even grew his own toggle worm trees for his fish bait. He also, loved to build furniture and other items from wood, he would often gift these pieces and fill his home with them as well. He was a brilliant gardener, he enjoyed harvesting and preserving his vegetables that he took great pride in and blessed his dinner table with them all year. Most of all, he was a faithful and quiet man, a devoted husband and the most kind, loving and protective father there ever was. He loved spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by so many.

Bennie Joe is proceeded in death by his wife, Novie Marie Roberts; his parents, Cleveland and Irene Roberts; his daughter Vicky Jo Roberts; his grandson, Jules Oreste’ Chustz; his son, Mitchell Cloninger; brothers, Grover Roberts, Harold Roberts, William Roberts; and sisters, Evelyn Joyce Kilgore and Annette Anderson.

He is survived by his daughters, Stacey Jo Roberts Rodriguez(Earnest), Tammy Jo Roberts Chustz(Jimmy), Beverly Jo Roberts Nipple(Kenny), Janice Creighton; sister, Patricia Stewart; brothers, Earl Dean Roberts and Tommy Roberts; grandchildren, Jennifer Warren, Christopher Mickle, Brandon Guidroz, Jullian A. Chustz, Shannia Chustz Papscy, Jessica Nipple, Brittany Nipple, Callie Nipple, Eric Corbello, Collin Cloninger and Hayden Cloninger; and many great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11am-1pm on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Flowood, MS. Services will be held at 1pm in the funeral home chapel with interment to follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
