Ben was born December 25, 1941 in Sunflower, MS to the late Sam Benjamin and Pauline Morgan Clower. He graduated from Moorehead High School, Millsaps College where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity and received his doctorate from UMC. He served on the faculty in the Anatomy Department from 1966 until his recent retirement in 2010. He served on the faculty of UMC for 45 years.
During his tenure at UMC he was the recipient of many teaching awards. The two most recent awards were The Nelson Order award, and the Hembree Honor Society award. He received the All Star teachers award voted on by the dental students numerous times.
Dr. Clower lived in Raymond, MS for 36 years and was an active member of Raymond United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher and served on various committees.
He is survived by the mother of his children Kay Clower of Raymond, children, Lane Gibson Clower Tracey of Ridgeland, and Allison Clower Lauderdale, Keith of Raymond. Grandchildren, Kristen and Kellan Clower of Ridgeland and BenMoss, Nicholas, Kendall, and Nash Lauderdale of Raymond. Sisters Bebe Romine John of Kosciusko, MS, Julia Rose Walter of Indianola, MS and Margie Harry Coleman of Greenville, MS.
Visitation will be at Raymond United Methodist Church on November 10, 2014 from 9:00 11:00 with services to follow. Burial will be in Indianola, MS at the Indianola cemetery.
