Obituary

Barbara Ann Hills Williamson, 88, of Brandon MS, died March 18, 2021. She was surrounded by her family when she entered the gates of Heaven peacefully.

She was born to the late James Robert Hills and Bessie Becker Hills of Collins, Mississippi, on March 3, 1933, in Centerville, Mississippi.

Barbara graduated from Collins High School and attended Mississippi College. She married the late Johnnie Harral Williamson also of Collins, MS on November 18, 1951.

Johnnie was a member of the United States Air Force and they lived in various places across the country, including California, Texas, Florida, and Biloxi before finally residing in Jackson, Mississippi. Barbara worked as a secretary, interior designer, an antique store owner, and spent many years as a real estate agent while also raising her 2 children.

Barbara was a fine artist and an award-winning painter. She studied under notable artists, including Marie Hull. She worked in oils, acrylics, and watercolors. She taught privately out of her home for many years. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and taught them how to paint as they grew up. Barbara was an outstanding cook and shared her love of cooking with her children and grandchildren. She won a national Pillsbury Bake-off in New York City in 1957 in the appetizer category.

Barbara was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Madison, MS. She is survived by her two children, Mary Goodson of Long Beach MS, and John Thomas Williamson (Janet Lynn) of Madison, Mississippi; 3 grandchildren, Bonnie Victoria Goodson of New Orleans, LA, JT Williamson Jr. (Hilary Michele) of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Emily Lynn Williamson of Madison, MS.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Johnnie Harral Williamson, her brother, James Robert Hills Jr., and her parents James Robert Hills and Bessie Becker Hills.

A visitation will be held at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday June 18th, and a memorial and celebration of life will be held at Collins Baptist Church on Saturday June 19th at 11:00 am preceded by visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Collins City Cemetery in Collins, MS.
