Barbara Huff Day Evans, 92, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023.

Ms. Evans was born in Gloster, MS on April 22, 1931 to the late Carmen Poole Huff and Purvis R. Huff. She graduated from Crosby High School and went on to receive an Associates Degree from Southwest MS Jr. College. She also attended Millsaps College and Mississippi College.

Ms. Evans was a member of Southside Assembly of God where she sang in the choir. Her career was in bookkeeping and in her spare time she enjoyed reading, music and singing.

She is preceded in death by her father, Purvis R. Huff; mother, Carmen Poole Huff Przybylski; step-father, Anthony Przybylski; sister, Carolene Brewer (Jimmy); brothers, Cameron Huff (Polly), Purvis Huff (Evelyn) and Dean Huff (Violet); son, Malcolm Day (Pat); infant son, Timothy Elwin Evans; and husband, James Malcolm Day, Sr.

Ms. Evans is survived by son, Stan Evans (Sandy); daughters, Patti Westbrook (Chad) and Janet Lynn Evans; grandsons, William Evans (Brittany) and Christopher Evans (Jamie); great-grandson, Jackson Evans; great-granddaughters, Baker Evans and Macy Kate Mathews; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home, Flowood officiated by Rev. Bryan Wilson. Visitation will be from 10:00am – 11:30am with services beginning at 11:30am. A graveside service will follow at 1:00pm at Lakewood Memorial Park, Jackson.

The family would like to thank the staff at Compere's Nursing Home for their kind and attentive care during her residency especially in the final days. They would also like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Pax Hospice for their assistance and compassionate care.
