Arthur Gilbert Landry, 77, of Brandon, MS passed away on December 28, 2020 at St Dominic's Hospital. He was born on February 24, 1943 in New Iberia, LA.
Art attended McNeese State University. He proudly served our country in the US Navy as a medic in Vietnam. This began his life long career of service in caring for others. Art went on to earn a degree from Memphis State University and began his career in Respiratory Therapy. While living in Memphis, TN he met and married, the love of his life, Deborah Gray. Relocating the family to Mississippi in 1980, Art became the Director of Respiratory Therapy at the VA Hospital in Jackson, before finding his true passion in home health. If Art had one true calling in life, it was to make the people around him happy. Art truly enriched the lives of many he came in contact with on a daily basis. While working in home health, Art was awarded the "Angel of the Year Award". He truly was an angel on earth. To know him was to love him. Art was an avid follower of his beloved LSU Tigers. He could be found every weekend faithfully cheering on his Tigers. Art was a member of St Paul Catholic Church and served on the School Board at St Paul Learning Center; as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Art was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and Bessie Landry and his daughter Stefenie Marie Landry. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Deborah Gray Landry, daughter Lorie Poston Freiman (Pete) of Flowood, MS, sons Brenten Shea Landry (Jennifer) of Madison, MS, and Andrew Ryan Landry (Emily) of Zachary, LA, his three sisters, Raye Seago of Baton Rouge, LA., Vicki Williamson of New Iberia LA. and Carolyn Boudreaux of Houston, TX . Grandchildren: Baker Self, Karsyn Self, Keaton Self, Abigail Freiman, Camille Landry, Thea Landry, Shelby Jones, Tate Landry and Harper Landry; and a host of nieces, nephews and life-long friends.
Due to COVID concerns, a private service will be held at Wright Ferguson Funeral Home in Flowood, MS.
