Annie Jewel Hughes Brock, 87, of Raymond left her earthly body on April 25, 2019. A Private Memorial Service will be held by her family Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 2:00 pm at her home.
Jewel was born on April 27, 1931 and is preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester McLauren Hughes and Annie (Omy) Varner Hughes and 7 siblings. She is also preceded in death by sons Thomas Aaron Brock and Peter Andrew Brock.
She had been retired from retail work since 1988. She loved to sew, smock, knit, crochet, read, go fishing and tend her garden. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a nurturing heart and always cared for injured animals brought by someone for her care. She was devoted to the toy dachshunds that had been a part of her life for over 40 years. She is survived by 1 dog, Tweeny, age 14. Tweeny will be cared for by a family member for the rest of her life in memory of Jewel.
Jewel is survived by 1 sister: Bobbie Stanley (Roger) of Baker, LA; 2 daughters: Jane B. Cargile (John) of Raymond, MS and Tammy B. Lewis (Vincent) of Harrisville, MS; 1 son: Mark C. Brock of Raymond, MS; 6 grandchildren: John P. Cargile, Jana C. Camp, Julie E. Cargile, Faith A. Jennings (Mike), Ashley N. Lewis, Nathan D. Lewis; and 6 great grandchildren: Eli, Emily, Audrey, Annalyse, Fisher and Rowdy; and a host of nieces and nephews throughout the United States.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or the American Cancer Society.
