Obituary

Annette Albritton, 87 years old, passed away on September 15, 2026. She was born to Kenneth and Annie Starling in 1939. Annette grew up in Jackson with her adoring parents and dearly loved brother, Robert. She graduated from Murrah High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi where she met her husband, Gayle, to begin their 61-year marriage. Gayle graduated from LSU and they both became passionate fans of LSU football.

They relocated to Jackson, Mississippi and later Clinton and grew their family with the birth of their son Jeff and later their son, Erik, and their daughter, Misty. They were part of the family of First Baptist Church of Clinton for many years.

Annette later continued her education earning a master’s degree from Mississippi College. She enjoyed a long career in the Clinton Public School District where she taught first grade and fifth grade math. Her students remember her as being fair but able to skillfully use a wooden paddle when necessary. She loved her students and would spend hours after school tutoring those who needed a little extra help.

In her free time, she was known to enjoy walking endlessly as exercise, the challenge of crossword puzzles and an evening with a good book. She loved being outside in the sun and spending hours poolside with her grandchildren and watching them in their extracurricular activities. She loved her grandchildren and was so proud of each of them.

She enjoyed holiday traditions including attending Christmas Eve service followed by driving around town to view light displays and a snack supper.

Annette is preceded in passing by her parents, Kenneth and Annie Starling, her brother Robert and her husband, Gayle.

Annette is survived by her children, Jeff Albritton (Kathryn), Erik Albritton (Stacie) and Misty Albritton; her granddaughter Dallas (Ryan) Smith, and grandsons Dylan Moudy, Luke (Heather) Albritton and Seth (Alyndria) Albritton; and her five great-grandchildren Fletcher Albritton, Parker Smith, Walker Smith, Griffin Albritton and Evelyn Albritton.

Visitation will be held at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton, MS on Thursday, September 17, 2026 from 12:00-2:00 PM. A time of remembrance and reflection will close the time of visitation.

The family wants to thank the loving caregivers of Augustine Sitting Service: Dorothy White, Jennifer Hudson, Dionne Fulgham, and Tanya White who provided faithful companionship and care during her extended illness as well as to The Blake of Township Memory Care staff and nurses of Heart of Hospice.
