Anne W. McWilliams Morse, a resident of Clinton, passed on to her eternal home on May 22, 2018. In her life, she was led by faith in the Lord and the love of her Savior Jesus Christ. In her passing, we know our beloved Anne is embraced by God's salvation.
Anne was born on March 22, 1929 and raised in the Ridge Grove community of Chambers County, Alabama. She received degrees from Judson College, Southwest Baptist Seminary, and Mississippi College. In 1953, she joined the staff of The Baptist Record, the newspaper for the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board where she later became Associate Editor. Her passion was for writing, which was evidenced through her weekly "Faces and Places" column and the authoring of seven books. Through her writing, she ministered to many and shared the ministry of others throughout Mississippi and the world. She also enjoyed traveling and visited every U.S. state and more than 40 foreign countries.
Anne, the daughter of the late Emmett and Johnnie Lou Washburn, is survived by her nieces, Karen Dennis and Luann Hendrix and her nephew, Tom Brown, step children, Steve Morse, Susan Brown, David Morse and multiple great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two husbands, William David McWilliams and Jerry Morse, and her sister, Betty W. Brown.
Visitation will be held at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home, 106 Cynthia Street, in Clinton, MS from 6 till 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 24. Family will also receive visitors Friday morning, May 25th, at 10 o'clock prior to a Christian service at 11 a.m. in the Wright & Ferguson chapel.
