Ann Yerger Simpson of Ridgeland, Mississippi and Lake Bruin, Louisiana

Ann Yerger Simpson was brought into this world on August 30, 1943 in Vicksburg, MS to loving parents Elise Clark Yerger and Andrew Learned Yerger. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Edna Margaret Yerger.

She spent her early years growing up and living in Mound, Louisiana. She attended elementary and high school in Tallulah and was loved by all who knew her. Ann's childhood home was adjacent to the Mound Library and down from the family's George S. Yerger Plantation store. Her home was known to many as Madison Parish especially family and friends that she cherishes to this day.

Upon proceeding to college, she received the Long Scholarship, and went on to join Newcomb Colleges of Tulane's Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority (Vice President and Dormitory Council). She attended Millsap's College during the summer and made lifelong friends. She graduated from Newcomb College of Tulane University in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Zoology.

She moved to Jackson to work in labs and research for the University Hospital, later known as the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

In 1966 she married Glynne A. Simpson and later had two children, Amanda Simpson Shelton and Collier Simpson. From 1979 to 1981 she served as Chapter Regent of the Rebecca Cravat Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Ann loved to travel, and visited most every state, and numerous countries, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, China, Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico, Bermuda, Iceland, Caribbean, Italy, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Morocco, Austria, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Holland, Canada, Turkey, and Belgium

Recently, she and Glynne renewed their marriage vows on her 50th year anniversary this past December.

She is remembered by her family and friends as a kind, bright, caring, and generous lady with a loving smile that never wavered. She was a true Southern Belle.

She and her husband were original founding directors of Continental Brokers Inc., and Sports & Fitness Insurance nationally recognized insurance firms. Together they have created a scholarship endowment to Ole Miss and have generously helped students in need of furthering their education.

Survivors include husband Glynne A. Simpson, son Glynne Collier Simpson (Bobbie), daughter Amanda Simpson Shelton (Steve) and grandchildren Alex Shelton, Catherine "Cas" Adele Simpson, Zach Shelton, Yerger Simpson, Andrew Kyzer Simpson, and Maxwell Taft Simpson.

Visitation will be Friday, May 26, 2017 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Madison, MS with funeral services at 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow in Chapel of The Cross Cemetery in Madison, MS. Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (601)924-9308

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Bedford Foundation at Post Office Box 2662 Madison, MS 39130 which was established by the Simpson family to assist students seeking a college education.
