Andy Steele

Alton “Andy” Steele, 78, of Brandon, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Baptist Hospital in Jackson after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. 

Andy was born on March 9 in Pensacola, Florida, to Alton and Peggy Steele. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology from Florida State University and dedicated his life to serving others in a variety of meaningful roles. 

Above all else, Andy was a man of deep and abiding Christian faith. For decades, he faithfully taught Sunday school, considering it one of the greatest privileges of his life. He found great joy in sharing God’s Word and encouraging others in their walk with Christ. His faith shaped the way he lived, the way he loved, and the way he served his family, his church, and his community. 

Andy proudly served as a Military Police officer in the United States Army before continuing his career in law enforcement as a decorated police officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Following his years in public service, he found another calling in helping families prepare for their futures. As a Certified Financial Planner, he became a trusted advisor to countless clients, guiding them through retirement planning, investments, IRAs, and 401(k)s with wisdom, patience, and integrity. Whether discussing the latest market trends or helping someone build a secure financial future, Andy genuinely cared about the people he served. 

While his professional accomplishments were many, Andy’s greatest pride was always his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Susie Steele; his children, Brady Steele (Hollie), Jennifer White (Mike), and Drew Steele; his sisters, Patricia Aikenhead (Neil) and Susan Darby (Doug); along with multiple cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought immeasurable joy to his life. 

Andy was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather. He never missed an opportunity to support those he loved, whether that meant sitting in the stands at a baseball game, spending a quiet morning on the water fishing, or simply being present whenever his family needed him. Family always came first.

Though Parkinson’s disease gradually took much from him, it never diminished the love he had for his family or the faith that sustained him throughout his life. Andy’s legacy is one of service, integrity, unwavering faith, and unconditional love. Those who knew him will remember a man who faithfully served his country, his community, his church, and, above all, the people he loved most. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 8, at Pinelake Church in Brandon, Mississippi, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m., with a graveside service immediately following. 

The family is honored to have Brady Steele, Drew Steele, Alex Darby, Cole Steele, Joseph Steele, Daniel Steele, Nathan Steele, and Jacob Steele serve as pallbearers.
