Obituary

After battling cancer for five years, Alison Turbeville, at the age of nineteen, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2015.
A memorial service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church 6000 Old Canton Road, Jackson, Mississippi at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2015.
Alison achieved more in her short life than most of us could dream to achieve in a full lifetime. Everything Alison did, she did beautifully, perfectly and with pride. Guided by her loving parents, Alison excelled in every aspect of her life. An incredible athlete, Alison played select soccer for JFC for years and was an MAIS All Star soccer player her senior year. She helped her Jackson Academy (JA) Track team win several titles. It was commonly reported that she ran as if "her feet were on fire." She was a JA cheerleader, and an Accent. Alison was also active in Young Life and her D Group at Christ United Methodist Church.
During high school, Alison served as class treasurer for three years in a row. She was elected president of numerous clubs. She was chosen Wendy's High School Heisman Award Winner, and received the President's Award for Educational Excellence. She created beautiful artwork for her family and friends. While undergoing chemotherapy her senior year, Alison made a 34 on her ACT, took AP and honors courses, and graduated with a 4.0. She was inducted into the Cum Laude Society and the Jackson Academy Hall of Fame. She was accepted into the University Of Mississippi's Honors College, and was the recipient of multiple scholarships. Given the option to continue treatment in Jackson, Alison chose to attend her beloved Ole Miss, while always under the watchful eye of her sweet sister Emily. Alison became an active member of the Tau Chapter of Chi Omega and managed to obtain a 3.9 GPA.
Perhaps Alison's most important accomplishment is the legacy she left behind. She taught us grace, courage, love and determination. She taught us to hold ourselves to the highest of standards and ideals. Through her acts, she taught us to always do our best and never give up the fight. Alison leaves all of us with lives that are far better off for just having known her. Alison, we will forever love you and forever be thankful. You are our guardian angel.
Alison is survived by her parents, Karlen and Ben Turbeville; her sister, Emily Turbeville; her grandparents, Flo and Luther Turbeville, and Helen Goldman; her uncles, Brad Turbeville (Jane), and Kenny Goldman (Joy); and her cousins, Janie and Claire Turbeville, Morgan Goldman Sandlin and Brooke Goldman.
In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to the Blaire E. Batson Children's Hospital.
