Albert Greer Parks

Albert Greer Parks, 86, of Jackson, Mississippi passed away on August 15, 2026. He was born May 7, 1940, in Winston County, Mississippi to Robert and Lillie McNeel Parks.

Albert attended East Central Community College and Mississippi State University. He worked for the U. S. Post Office for four years then the Mississippi State Rating Bureau, and after 15 years left the Bureau. He then worked for Kemper Insurance and Wausau Insurance companies. He returned to the Bureau and retired as manager after a total of 34 years with the Bureau.

Albert enjoyed gardening, especially growing tomatoes and often stated that he planted the plants and God grew the very tasty, large tomatoes. He could often be seen working in his garden, cutting the lawn (when Joyce was not cutting the grass) and trimming shrubbery around the house. He loved to fish and hunt during his younger days.

Albert loved his church family and could often be seen with his family at the worship service, Sunday School and the various church activities such as Legacy of Faith functions at MHBC.

Albert joined the Gideons in 1992 and enjoyed the distribution of Bibles at schools, colleges, hospitals, nursing homes, and other areas of distribution. He and his Camp fellow Gideons would travel to Parchman Prison for Bible distributions and witnessing to prisoners. He was always grateful to God when a prisoner would accept Jesus as their Savior and would include the great news in his church presentations. He spoke in several churches in the Jackson area, throughout Mississippi, and some out of state locations.

Albert is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann Basye Parks; son, Michael “Mike” Parks of Jackson; daughter, Michelle Parks Minton and husband Rich of Westminster, Maryland; granddaughter Dr. MaKayla Minton of Fredrick, Maryland. Albert leaves behind many nephews and nieces, with whom he shared his love.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, June Shelton and Kathleen Hemphill; and brothers, Bobby Jack, Jessie Mack, and Billy Earl.
